Birthday Gift
“Fights with best friends are truly shattering” said Ansh. Ansh is a five year old boy who is the topper of his class. He goes to one of the most
prestigious schools of the city. He has very loving parents but he is alone
most of the times as his parents are working. They come back home by late evening.
He loves one day that is Sunday, for him it is a Red Letter Day as that is the
only day where he spends his whole day with his parents. After opening the door
he sees nobody in the house. He is used to it. “The same food again? Why not something
else other than bread with Cheese spread, Banana and an Egg” he questioned himself.
Couple of minutes later he realizes that hunger gnawed him up. He consoles himself
and eats the food and sleeps in peace. When he wakes up he thinks of watching
television for some time and does his work later .After some time his parents
arrive home tired and busy attending their office calls. By the time they are free,
Ansh is asleep. Couple of days pass by and soon his birthday arrived. Coincidentally
that was a Sunday. It was the best day of his life. They celebrated it with fun
and frolic. After the celebration his father asks him about what he wanted for
his birthday. He replied that he wanted a special calendar with six days
written in Red and only one day of the week will be written in black. “Why do
you want such a calendar” his father asked. “I want it that way because only
the days which are written in colour you and mummy stay at home with me .The
rest of the days which are written with black, both of you go to the office.
So, I want such a calendar where six days both of you will stay with me and
only one day you will go to office”. He said with hope. His parents were deeply
touched by his feelings. They did not stop going to their office but they
started coming home early.
